As already know, Palestinian people are still facing the genocidal war conducted by Israel Zionists for the last year. There are many efforts launched by international organizations such as the United Nations and International Court Justice to stop this tragedy, but it is always end in failure. And even worse the Israeli government try to escalate the war by attacking Lebanon.
The Palestinian dream of being free and having normal life is still far away, particularly for Gaza City. The death toll because of this war has already surpassed 40.000 citizens, including babies, children, elderly and innocent civilians, and apparently will not stop soon.
As a response to that situation, ASEAN Youth in Cooperation with Hidayatullah Youth of East Java and the Islamic College of Luqman al-Hakim Surabaya (STAIL) initiated a small conference to find out the way to contribute to Palestinian freedom. The forum which took place on Zoom meeting with the topic ‘The BDS Movement for Palestine Freedom’ was attended by delegations from 4 countries in Southeast Asia, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Cambodia on Saturday, 9th November 2024.
Here are the joint statement agreed by representative participant ;
- We, the representatives of ASEAN youth, condemn the brutality, inhumanitarian, genocidal attack targeted babies, women, and innocent civilians committed by Israel Zionists for more than a year. It is the picture of what the Palestinian People have faced since the existence of Israel Zionists in Palestinian land and it should be stopped as soon as possible.
- We also express our disappointment to the United Nations which failed many times to encourage the ceasefire of this genocidal war. It shows us how weak the UN’s position is to bring peace among the nations, especially when it comes to the Palestine issue.
- We demand all the organizations and companies that are complicit to this war by funding Israel Zionists, making bilateral cooperations, investing in any part of this apartheid state, or even worse sending Israel weapons to stop that activity and divest all the money which will make this war longer.
- Lastly, we as a youth of ASEAN, invite all the elements in our country and people around the world to show solidarity toward Palestine and avoid any goods from companies who have ties with Zionist Israel.
- We call everyone on the planet, especially civil society in the ASEAN region to do our part as a consumer to support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction (BDS) movement to weaken Israel’s Zionist economy and whoever stands with it.
